QuestionYou answered a couple questions before about me getting an error reading on valve #3. I changed out my control box and it went away. A day later it now says "Error detected, check wiring in zone #5." The sprinkler doesn't come on at all. If it works when manually opening the valve, does that mean the valve/solenoid is good and it is a wiring issue?
AnswerHey Kyle, when you say the valve works when I manually open the valve,do you manually open it at the valve, or do you manually open it by the controller? If it works when you manually open it at the valve, but not by the controller, then it is more than likely the solenoid. If it works by the controller, then the solenoid is good, but the reason it is giving you an error code, could be that the solenoid fails after running for a while (heating up) and needs to be replaced, or the wires are shorting out somewhere. 9 times out of 10 you need to replace the solenoid. Just because you can manually turn the valve on manually at the valve, doesn't have anything to do with the solenoid. Good luck and have a great day.
