I have small amount of water coming out of a sprinkler head the system is off, can you tell me is its cause?

He David, more than likely the rubber diaphram in the valve is starting to wear out, and it needs to be replaced. Basically what is happening, is that the valve is not shutting off all the way, and the water will go to the lowest head(s) on the line, and you will see water all the time around the head(s). Go to www.irrigationtutorials.com and the website is excellent for showing you how to rebuild a valve. You will just need to know what size, Brand, and model of the valve is you are rebuilding.
