QuestionHere's the problem....I have a Hunter XC and it has been working fine for the past 2 years and it suddenly says "no ac". It is hooked up to the junction box with a UL 15 switch. I replaced the UL 15 switch to see if that was the problem and the box still said "no ac". Went down to the irrigation store and asked for a replacement transformer for the XC...they didn't have one so I bought an entire new unit. I replaced the old unit with the new one and it worked for 2 days...the new unit now says "no ac"...not sure what to do now...do I need to replace the UL 15 for a UL 20? do I need to replace the wires from the junction box to the Hunter XC? Getting sick of manually watering the grass :-(
AnswerHey Chris, changing the amp from 15 to 20 is not going to make a difference. Check the voltage at the transformer wires at the panel to see what you are getting. The transformer should read between 23 to 26 volts. If it is not reading this, then there is a problem with the transformer,or the voltage to the transformer. It could be that the wires from the breaker to the controller are bad, so check these first. If the voltage from the transformer is reading good, then the problem is with the controller. I would suggest getting your money back and buying either a "Irritrol" Rain Dial controller or a "Rainbird" ESP series controller. I've never had good luck with the Hunter controllers.:-) Good luck and have a great day.
