QuestionHi, the grass in many areas of my front and back lawn have been receiving much less water recently. there are many valves set up for the front zone and another set of valves for the backyard. The sprinklers do not pop up like they should and much less water is sprayed. The pressure regulator reads 100 psi and the hoses in front and back also test at 100psi. The plumber increased the pressure to 120 but there was not much improvement. What can the problem be and what next steps should be taken before the yard starts drying up?
Thank you.
AnswerHey Aaron, My first question would be do all the valves have low pressure? If so, it sounds like you have a restriction somewhere in the system. First thing I would check, is that the main turn on valve for the system is turned on fully. The next thing I would check is if you have a master valve installed on the system. A master valve ia an automatic valve that is installed at the beginning of the system and is turned on by the clock when the other valves are scheduled to run. The master valve must first open before the other valves get water pressure. If the master valve is not working correctly, then the other valves will not get good pressure. If the master valve is not opening up all the way, then it needs to be rebuilt and a new diaphram installed. If only some of the valves have low pressure, then these individual valves need to be rebuilt and a new diaphram installed in each one. A good website is www.irrigationtutorials.com, it will show you how to rebuild a valve. Good luck and have agreat day.
