QuestionI have everything hooked up but all zones come on at the same time. Wires hooked up to separate zones but are not working separately. Do you need to start from the number one position..have it hooked to 4, 5 and third wire hooked to pump.
4 and 5 (either one) turn on all sprinklers. Timer works fine.
AnswerHey Susan, the way the timer is hooked to the valves is as follows. One wire is considered a common wire. This common wire will run from the C (common) terminal to one wire coming off the solenoid on each of the valves. Then the other wire from each valve solenoid, has a separate (hot) wire that runs from the terminal strip. #1 wire to #1 valve, #2 wire to #2 valve, etc. The pump should also have a separate wire running to the pump relay switch, and this wire hooks to the controller at either the MV (master valve) terminal, or the PS (pump start) terminal, if your system has a pump, not all systems use a pump. If your timer is working fine, then I suspect that either you have crossed wires out in the field, or the wires are not hooked up properly in the controller, or at the valves themselves. It could also be the terminal strip is getting old and corroded, and is crossing the wires internally, if this is the case, you might need a new timer,(but this is probably not the case if you say the timer is working fine). Good luck and have a great day.
