QuestionThe Hunter XC Controller was installed by the builder and it was wired to one valve. There are 6 wires between the controller and valves. I added a second valve and attached a second color to the valve end and to the controller. My question has to do with the common wire. On the XC controller there is only one screw to attach the common wire...is the one that is already attached the only one I need or do I have to attach the 2nd white wire wrapped around the new color. The hardest part is on the valve end there are several white wires...how do I know (short of trying each one) which common wire to attach to the new valve? Help. Thanks.
AnswerHello,
Here is the owners manual for your timer: http://hunterindustries.com/Resources/PDFs/Owners_Manuals/Domestic/lit397enw.pdf
Each residential timer has 1 common terminal and it is noted by either a "C" or "COM" on the terminal. If you are adding another valve you can connect to the existing common wire already in the field or you can run a new common wire to the timer.
I hope I understood your question and was able to help. Let me know if you need anything else.
