Rain Jet solenoids

Question
I have four rain jet solenoids RJ711 Classic 3/4". Two of them have cracked in a circle around where the inlet tube is glued to the green part of the solenoid. I lost a fair amount of water before I noticed it. Do I have to worry about the other two doing the same thing? Is it a problem with the design or materials? They are different in that the pvc tubing glues right into the bottom of the solenoid rather than the more usual threaded fitting making the connection. There is no external pressure against them due to mis-alignment as the tubes go into the ground. They are in southern California so no freezing problems.

Have you heard about this problem with this design before? Any suggestions other than to buy another brand with the normal threaded connection?

Answer
Hey Gary, the valves you are talking about are about the cheapest valve you can buy, and would not be considered a "professional" brand. I would suggest buying a name brand such as Rainbird, the model that would replace the ones you have are a DV-100. They are a 1" valve but can be bushed down to 3/4". I would suggest replacing them all, because the other two are probably going to do the same thing. Good luck and let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks and have a great day.
