QuestionJim,
Sorry if this is too wordy, but this problem is driving me crazy.
I have one particular zone that will not run off the timer. I am ignorant about which particular model it is, there is no branding on the valve. But it is a standard in-line electrical valve that looks exactly like the Toro 54004 only in a light green color.
1. I have replaced the diaphragm and the solenoid and the system will not run automatically.
2. The zone will run fine when you manually open the bleeder valve.
3. The zone will run fine when you loosen the solenoid.
4. I have run a wire through the little hole underneath the solenoid on both the upper and lower sections of the valve and have found no obstructions.
5. I disconnected the solenoid and fired up the zone and saw that the plunger retracted fine.
6. Finally I switched solenoids with one that was working another zone just fine but that did not work either.
HELP!! This is driving me crazy. What else can I do?
Thank you,
Scot C.
AnswerHey Scot, it sounds like you have done everything right. Usually what you are describing, is because the diaphram is bad, or the port into the solenoid is blocked. You have replaced diaphram and checked the solenoid port hole. The only thing I can suggest, is depending on the type of valve, sometimes you can put 2 o-rings under the solenoid, instead of one, to give more of an air pocket to open the valve. I can not tell you why the valve is not opening, you have done everything right, sorry. Good luck and have a great day.
