QuestionI have replaced a spray nozzle attachment on a 4" pop up valve and noticed in order to set the spray direction, the nozzle head must be a little loose in order to adjust it as desired. I am just turning the nozzle counter-clockwise until directionally adjusted. The nozzle then is unscrewing from the pop up valve, am I doing it correctly? The existing nozzles in the system all feel tight.
Also, the screw adjustment either is almost off, or all the way on with not a lot of in-between. Is that the way they are designed?
Thanks,
AnswerHey Dave, I hope this helps. You are correct in the fact that the nozzle needs to be tightened all the way onto the stem of the head. To make the correct adjustment as far as how the spray pattern is throwing water, you either need to turn the whole stem (the newer heads have a rachet system built into them) or if it is an old head, the whole head needs to turn. As far as the adjustment for how far the head will spray, the screw that you turn up or down, simply moves a screw head below the nozzle, onto the filter, to either increase or decrease the flow. You don't have a great deal of flexibility with this screw, but it should be adequate. Make sure the filter under the nozzle is not cracked or broken, and that the nozzle is tightened all the way onto the stem of the head. Good luck and have a great day.
