QuestionWe have a Rainbird ESP Modular, 4 years old. Just put in a sidewalk next to garage and want to disable 2 sprinkler heads that are between the garage and the sidewalk. Don't even want them to pop up; we are going to kill out the grass in that area, cover with plastic, then sand, then decorative rocks. The heads are the half-moon spray type, not rotor. Do we need to dig up and cap or is there something else? There are two other half moon heads on the same zone, so we can't just disable that zone.
AnswerHey Chris, you are correct. You can dig down to the pipe underneath the heads, and you will see a fitting in the pipe with female threads. The best thing to do, is get a 1/2" male threaded plug, put some teflon tape on it, and screw it into the female fitting in the pipe. Then I would turn the system back on, and check that the plugs are not leaking. Good luck and have a great day.
