QuestionMy RD-600 controller was installed in 1997. The LCD display says "75" - I changed the battery and it still says "75". When I tried to run the system, zone 1 came on and never changed to the next zone. Then, to shut off the water, I actually had to cut it off in the basement using the cut-off valve. So, is the controller savable?
AnswerMary:
Its my opinion that its time to move on to another one. 12 years is a pretty good lifespan for that controller.
The ONLY thing I would suggest if you want to try saving it would be disconnecting from power, removing the 9volt backup battery (if there is one), waiting 5 to 10 mins, and then restart it.
These things just go bad and the best thing to do is to get a new one. I recommend purchasing one from a Irrigation supply house. All of the major brands should work fine for you and be sure to ask about the warranty for the different models and brands.
If possible I recommend that you install a rain sensor with the new controller. They are very easy to install. some are wireless and some have freeze protection as well.
So - I do hope that resetting the controller works for you! should you need to install a new one and have more questions please do not hesitate to continue emailing me.
