QuestionOkay, we moved into a house that has a Rain Dial system w/five diff valves. We haven't used the system at all since we bought the house. I've planted a veggie garden (#5) where one of the valves is set up. However the controller doesn't seem to function whether in Manual or according the set-up instructions even though I manually set it up as a 5 minute run. So, I went outside and cranked the valve to "On". The sector began spraying, I was happy. However, after 10 minutes, water still spewed with full force.
Question is: should the Valves be in the "off" position? And, if so, why can't I get the controller to follow through w/a Manual irrigation (just to check) let alone a programmed irrigation?
Help?!
I'd like to note that I've followed all instructions to a 't' for programming the irrigation as per the Rain Dial Installation/Programming Guide.
AnswerThe valves should be in the off position. On is for manual operation only. As far as the operational problem, make sure that your wiring connections are secure, both at the controller and at the valves. You may have a loose common wire, which would keep the controller from working.
