QuestionHi Jim,
I have an old Hydro Rain HR6100 with pump start. I also have an old house that still runs off fuse boxes. This past weekend we had a big electrical storm and the small fuse box in my basement (where my sprinkler system/pumps are) blew fuses. Two of them actually exploded. I've replaced the fuses and all the power returned in my basement except to my sprinkler system. I hoped it was only the 1 amp fuse in the controller box, but it wasn't. Do you think the storm may have destroyed it? If so, what kind of money are we talking about to replace/repair the unit? I have a $1000 deductible on my homeowner's policy so it probably won't be worth filing a claim for. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
AnswerHey Linda, a good controller should only run you about $100.00 to $125.00. Install labor should be about $75.00. I would suggest a Irritol "Rain dial" controller. It is actually a newer model of the HR-6100, which they don't make anymore. I believe you would like the Rain dial model, because it programs similar to the HR 6100. Good luck and have a great day.
