QuestionMy grass is dying in (approx) a 3 foot radius around my sprinklers (pop-up style, adjustable head, std spray). There is plenty of overlap...in fact a spray from one sprinkler reaches the other. Is this just a matter of adjusting the flow down? pressure down? I appreciate any help. Thanks.
AnswerHey Steve, I hope this helps. Most sprinklers do not get good coverage by the head themselves. You are correct in that you need one head throwing to the next head. You can try adjusting the flow control on the valve. The key to telling if the valve is properly adjusted, is that the spray should resemble raindrops. If you are seeing a lot of mist coming from the heads, then the flow control is turned up too high. If the heads are not throwing from one head to the other, then you will have problems in front of the heads. If you are getting good overlap, and are still getting dry spots, you probably need to increase the amount of time the valves run for. Rainbird does make a nozzle for its spray head series called an under nozzle. What this nozzle does, is it has 2 different cuts in it. It has the regular cut that throws water out at a 30 degree angle, and it also has a cut at the bottom of the nozzle that puts out a flat spray that covers an area closer to the head. You could try changing your heads out. Good luck and have a great day.
