Questionmy irrigation pump cuts off and on when not in use. just the motor, no water. cuts on for maybe three seconds then cuts off. does it maybe four times an hour. any idea how to troubleshot for this problem
AnswerDear Yehia, I hope this helps. Normally if the pump is for the irrigation system, it will have a relay(switch) that is hooked to your controller. When the system is supposed to go on, it will send a current to the relay, so the pump will turn on. I would check your controller, and see how it is scheduled, or check and see if the controller is defective, and is turning the pump on, when it is not supposed to. What you could try, is to disconnect the wire in the back of the controller either hooked to the "pump start" terminal, or the MV (master valve) terminal. Then monitor the pump, and see if it still turns on and off. If it stops turning on and off, then the controller is probably defective. If it still continues to turn on and off, then the relay could be defective. Let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks and have a great day.
