QuestionWe recently shut off the controller because of a lot of rain. Now that we turned
it back on it will not turn on the sprinklers...not by setting the run or the
manual buttons. Only can get them going by doing it manually outside.
AnswerHey Lois, I hope this helps. First thing I would check, is that the controller is getting power to it. If the battery is good, then the display will be lit up as though you are getting power. To check if it is getting power, take the battery out, and see if you are still getting a display. If you are getting a display without the battery, then the power is fine, if you are not getting a display without the battery, then check your power. If the power to it is good, then check the controller and see if it is putting out a signal to the valve. Turn the #1 valve on manually, and with a volt/ohm meter, touch the common field wire terminal in the back of the contoller with the negative lead, and the #1 terminal with the positive lead. You should get between 22 to 26 volts. If you are not getting a good reading, then the controller might be bad. Next, if the controller is good, check your voltage at the valves themselves. Same thing, turn #1 valve on, and at the valve solenoid (two wires) check the wires with your meter and see if you are getting the proper voltage. If you are not, then the wire could be cut. Last thing to check, would be the valve itself. The solenoid on the valve might be bad, or the diaphram in the valve might be bad. A good website to help you repair a valve is www.irrigationtutorials.com. Let me know if I can be of anymore assistance, thanks and have a great day.
