QuestionJim,
When turning on my water my 4th zone automatically comes on. (regardless if I have my system turned to run or not) I have thought that maybe going through my valves manually might work but is there any way I know which valves control which zones? I am not much of a sprinkler guy! Someone told me that on the valves there is a lever I can mess with to control the valve flow?
Thanks
AnswerHey Tyler, I hope this helps. Every valve manufacture has a different way to turn a valve on manually. Also each manufacture has different series of valves that also have different ways to turn them on manually. If it is a Toro valve, look in the very center on the top, and see if you see a black plastic piece of plastic that looks like the end of a regular screwdriver. If you unscrew this piece of plastic about a 1/2 turn it should start leaking water out of the top, and the valve should come on manually. Most other valves will either have a screw (bleed screw) to turn the valve on manually. If it doesn't appear to have a bleed screw, then some valves have a little plastic lever right in front of the solenoid, that when you flip it up, pushes a plunger up into the solenoid, and also turns the valve on manually. Some valves also have a lever around the bottom of the solenoid, that unscrews the solenoid slightly, and also turns the valve on manually. If all else fails, if you unscrew the solenoid fully from the valve( make sure you don't lose the plunger inside the solenoid) the valve will also turn on without the solenoid. If you are going to take off the solenoid, turn the water off first, then unscrew the solenoid, then turn the water on, and that particular valve will run. Let me know if you have any more questions, thanks and have a good day.
