QuestionDear Jim:
I have a client that has a rainjet sprinkler valve that has a trashed solenoid. It is in such bad condition that I am afraid I will inadvertently ruin the thread to replace it. So my question is if I don't ruin the thread, will a universal solenoid work and if trash the thread is the top of the valve compatible with another valve so I don't have to dig and cut out the entire valve since the rest of the system might have other weak points.
AnswerDear Tensie, I hope this helps. You should be okay if the threads are good, there is a solenoid you can buy, that has different thread patterns for a number of valves and will work on the rainjet. You should also be able to match the top to another valve if the threads are bad, or you should be able to buy another Rainjet valve and just replace the top and solenoid at one time. Good luck and have a great day.
