QuestionI recently have been experiencing a problem with the motor cutting on and off every 2 seconds no matter what zone is on. I have changed the relay next to the motor and the problem is still happening. It wasn't happening before. Any help would be great.
AnswerHey Matthew, when you say motor, are you talking about a motor for the pump, or for a mechanical clock? If it is a pump motor, and you have already installed a new relay, I would assume that the problem could be in the controller. In the back of the controller, where the field wires are hooked up, you should see a contact marked either "pump start" or "MV for master valve. This is where the relay is hooked in to the controller. What you could try doing is un-hooking this wire from the contact, and with a ohm/volt meter, check your voltage when a station is on. Hook the positive probe from the meter to the "pump start" contact, and the negative to the field wire contact marked "c" for common. With the controller on any station running, the voltage should be about 23 to 26 volts continuously. If the voltage fluxuates up and down, you probably need a new controller. If the voltage stays even, hook the wire back up to the relay, and check the voltage again. If the voltage stays even with the relay un-hooked, but fluctuates when the relay is hooked up, then you probably have a problem with the relay, or pump. I hope this answers your question, and have a great day.
