Question
Sprinkler Valves
Hello Jeff,
Symptoms:
- All sprinkler Zones suddenly stopped working.
- Control Panel seems to be working properly (at least display-wise)
- An electrical hum comes from the first Valve in the set of 4 when activated...but not the others. Not sure if that's normal.
- I turned the screws on the valves to bleed it so that it would manually turn on (from what I've read). Although water did come out around the screw, and the valve, the spinklers did not come on.
- I checked the House Main, and it doesn't appear like I have a constant leak according to the gage.
Curious, but probably unrelated:
- I had a house power outage resolved by a main power flip the day prior. However, The sprinklers did come on once after that. (it was on the wrong schedule due to a low 9-volt battery)
- Someone left a screwdriver by my Water Main. Weird. Must have been within the last week.
=====
I was thinking about replacing solenoid, but would that cause all 4 valves to stop working? And if it is electrical why doesn't the manual bleed (turning the screw) make the sprinklers come on?
Any help/thoughts/suggestions/comments appreciated.
AnswerTry turning off the controller, removing all power to it, including the battery for about 3-5 minutes. Restore power, reprogram and see what happens. Also check all the wiring connections both at the valve and at the controller terminals. The noise you are hearing is most likely the solenoid. I cant explain why no water would come out when manually bled, except that maybe the valves are turned off at the flow control.
