Question
I have a Flotec pump I have used for years for my sprinkler system, tapped into a secondary water line provided by the city. Recently I turned on the sprinkler system and pump, pump came on for a split second then shut off. I am finding the pump is blowing out the relay fuses, have replaced several times and the problem repeats. What is causing this?

Shut-off the power, then disconnecting the power wire from the pump. Now, turn the power back on and try the controller again. By doing this you can determine if it is the pump motor or a wiring problem to the motor.
If it is the pump, you will need to replace it or take it to a electric motor shop for testing. It may be a simple centrifugal start switch. Or the motor/ pump will need to be replaced.
