Toro vs Hunter

Question
I am in the process of deciding on a company to install a system as soon as possible. One sells Toro one sells Hunter. Since Hunter seems to have a corner on the market I have to conclude that they might be more cutting edge and easy to deal with...any opinion...this is a giant expense for me and I am very impressed with the company that sells Toro in terms of service but really want the best system cost aside. Thank you.

Answer
Thanks for your question.
I've been on all sides of "who makes the best system". I've sold Toro, Rainbird and Hunter. Currently my preference is Hunter. This is not to say the other aren't O.K. products, but Hunter does tend to lead the market. Everyone else seems to be playing catch-up to Hunter's innovations. As a contractor, I have less warranty claims with Hunter than the others. That speaks for itself.
Service is also a concern for your purchase. Though the systems today require minimal repairs, it is good to know the company will be around to take care of you if you need it. Have they been in business for a while? Do they have a full time service dept? You can buy a great product, but if used improperly or serviced wrong it will preform like the worst product.
As I've said, I would go toward the Hunter products, but check out the company. Call them and ask for the service dept. If you go to a voice mail without a return call within a few hours, I'd be "concerned".
Ask the Toro contractor if they will install "all" Hunter equipment for you. If they value you as a customer, they should without hesitation.
I hope this give you a little help with your dismission.
