QuestionI have a 20 year old Rainbird EZ1 auto sprinkler controller which worked fine when I shut it off last October. I turned it on today- there is no display at all. I replaced the battery. The voltages coming out of the transformer appear OK and there is about 24 V across each individual valve circuit. The fuse is not blown. I suspect the display is shot and I need a new unit. Agree? Thanks.
AnswerWow, a 20 year old EZ-1. I'd say it's done well.
I agree, it's time for a new controller. The EZ's were a economy designed controller and were meant for a few years use. Considering it's 20 years old and cost about $70 when new, that's only $3.50 a year. Rainbird deserve a "at a boy" for that one.
The good news, I think you will be impressed with the options of the new controllers.
