QuestionHi
I need help in choosing right pump for drip irrigation. The present pump is so old all i know is it a F&W bullet pump with big pressure tank under pump. The pump had no problem pumping from pond to barn. Barn is 23 feet + /- above pond at a distance of 85ft. From barn to drip system is 60ft, drip set at 10psi.
Total drippers producing 200gph. Last dripper is 150ft from irrigation regulator.
As said the F&W is so old all info on pump is long gone.
Thanks in advance

AnswerThanks for your question.
Your not going to need more than a 1/2hp pump. Your system has a flow rate of 3-1/2 gallon per minutes and a pressure requirement of 25-30 PSI. Since your drawing from a pond, I would recommend a self-priming style. These are usually sold as " self-priming shallow well pump or jet pump". I assume you are reusing the tank.
As far recommending a manufacturer. Each area of the country has a few "popular" pump manufacturers which are sold locally. For me to recommend a pump which isn't popular in your area wouldn't do much good. There is one pump manufacturer which is readily available on the internet, I've even saw them on E-Bay. Simer Pump, they are a division of Pentax Group, a large pump company. They make a wide range of pumps and pump system at a reasonable price. I've enclosed a web link for a pump system that is plug and play and would work well in your situation.
If you want a specific pump manufacturer and model#, reply back with a few names which you recognize and I'll look-up the exact pumps.
