Flow control on sprinkler heads

Question
I have several sprinkler heads that over spray causing damage as well as wasting water.  Is there an easy way to control the flow out of the sprinklers.  As a note some of them spray just fine so it seems that adjustments at the sprinkler heads would be best.  I believe that the sprinklers are all rainbird type 4000.  I also have some of the planter bed type sprinkler heads (thread into a 1/2" pipe and are always up) that are also over spraying.  Thanks for your help.

Answer
Good question.
There are a couple was of doing this. First you could change the valves to a flow control style. You may already have them. If your valves have a handle or knob directly in the center, it's a flow control. These valves limit the flow to the sprinklers which shortens the distance of throw. It also cuts down the misting which waste water.
The other way is to individually adjust the spray of the sprinklers. This will help the situation, but may not cure it completely. The rotor sprinklers (4000) will have a screw driver slot directly above the nozzle. The spray heads (bed type) have a screw driver slot in the center. Screw clockwise to decrease the spray.
Hope this helps.

Matt
