Question
I need to work on the sprinkler system and cannot find the shut off. I have a
sprinkler box near the garage. There is no shut off in there. The only shut off
valve I can find is for water into the house and this does not effect the sprinkler
system. Could it be buried somewhere? And, if so, how can it be located?  I want
to avoid shutting off water to the entire house. Any suggestions would be
welcome.

It could really be anywhere.  Common places are: where the water comes into the house, there may be a tee, with one serving the house, and the other serving the irrigation.  Use a probe or a shovel to poke around near the foundation of the house to see if you can find a valve box.  Sometimes the shut off is upstream from the first valve.
