QuestionHi Matt,
I have a Toro Ecxtra controller and i can not get it to power up...i purchased a new transformer and it did not make any difference...I even purchased a new controller and i can not get it power up....i have electricity to the electrical outlet because I've plugged other electrical equipment into the outlet and it works fine...do you have any suggestions???? I'm puzzled...the only think i can think of is that a wire, somewhere, is not connected or has been cut and the system is not making a complete circuit...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
AnswerHi Wayne.
That's a strange situation. I assume you are not getting any display when you first plug it in. The controller has a circuit breaker so to speak and will shut-down if it detects a short out in the yard. If you get a quick flash on the display when you plug in the transformer and then a blank screen you have a "field" wiring problem. Try disconnecting the "COM" wire on the terminal strip. Also, disconnect any wires to a MV or PUMP terminal.(before disconnecting wires, I often take a digital picture of the terminal block, it helps when you reconnect the wires) Wait a few minutes then re-power. If you get a display, your problem is in the field. If no display, recheck you power supply to the controller. If you have a voltage tester, test the power terminals from the transformer. You should be getting 24v to 27v. It is possible if you have a severe short the transformer burned up the moment you first plugged it in.
I hope this helps, if you have further questions, feel free to ask.
Matt
