QuestionI have a deep well feeding a Hydrotek 4000 6-zone system. When I turn off the pump for a few minutes, the valve will skip the next zone and go to the next one instead. My Father had sprinkler "Bozo's" take apart the valve twice, to no avail. There is no check valve in the system and the water will take a long time to make it to the heads and get up to pressure, which is pretty high. Should I install a suction line check valve to prevent the pump from losing prime? The well is so deep that there are two lines going down. I was told that the extra line "helped" the pump get the water up. I don't quite understand that. Maybe you could tell me what the extra line does and which line I should put the check valve in, if any. Thank you.
AnswerYou probably have a jet pump that works by pushing water down to make a suction. There should be a valve at the bottom of the well line called a foot valve which helps with the jet process and has a check valve in it. This valve may need to be replaced. As for the controller skipping problem, try reprogramming it, and if this doesnt help, it may need to be replaced.
