Questionwe are installing a new inrrigation system and an offer to install the "Fertigator" automatic lawn fertiliztion system is being offered. My feeling is that for $500 for the system plus $70 for a 4/6 supply of fertilizer it is difficult to understand why one would purchase it. Have any readers installed such a unit and what are your thoughts on it's value.
AnswerAnthony,
If you are not someone that fertilizes regularly, I would tend to agree with you that it is unnecessary. I sell a similar unit to that called Fertile Earth Pro-Feeder. Many of the people we have installed them for love them. It is possible to get the grass greener with less water usage using the fertilizer system, although the savings in water does not fully offset the cost of the fertilizer. I guess its a personal choice, if you are a frequent fertilizer than I would say it was a good idea - otherwise I would not install it.
