Question
Our sprinkler system shuts off after 5 minutes...Nothing in the garage will work after it trips....If we wait about 20 minutes and hit the reset button, it will work for another 5 minutes and shuts off..We have run an extension cord in to the house and it will run thru the whole cycle just fine....We have had an electrician out..He says nothing is wrong w/the electrical system..Our sprinkler man says it could be the timer, but why does it work properly in the house?...No one seems to be able to give us an answer?

I can think of several things to check.  If the outlet where the controller is plugged in is a GFCI (the kind with the reset and test buttons), it may be bad.  The transformer for your timer may be bad and need replacing.  Or the whole timer is shot and needs to be replaced.
