QuestionI have a lawn irrigation pump connected to a fresh water lake at my weekend cottage. The water system works fine, however, once in a while, at start-up, the pump surge would trip the breaker. How can I limit the surge from the pump and keep the system running while I am not on-site.
AnswerFirst, check the circuit breaker to make sure that it is not faulty. If not, then you have to reduce the amperage tht the pump draws. If you have the wiring in place, converting the pump to 240 volts will draw less amperage. If not, maybe replaceing the pump motor will help.
