QuestionI am getting ready to install a sprinkler system and have found that I have 110 static water pressure from the water company. I am getting numerous opinions about how to deal with this problem from "dont worry about it" to "install a pressure regulator". I just discovered that Rainbird has a valve that has flow control and was wondering what you thought about not installing a pressure regulator and dialing down the PSI with each individual valve as needed.
Thanks
Jim
Answerjim,
install the pressure regulator. the flow control on the rainbird valve adjusts the flow, not the pressure. at 110 psi the valve would have to be flowed so low that it would operate erraticly. and you would have to flow all the valve. the maximum operating pressure for most sprinkler components is 80 psi. too high pressure means you will be replacing parts frequently, sprinkler companies love to sell parts.
