QuestionHi Mr Ray, When I bought my home it had Roses, Hedges, ect. planted against the house. Due to termite infestation I am now removing the plants and would like to rock. I have asphalt fiberglass shingles my sons and I removed from the roof and was hoping that they would make a good barrier for the rock as well as keep them out of the land fill. Do you see any problems with this? We get very little rain in the California high desert and I am sloping away from the house.
AnswerHey, Dorothy.
I would not use the shingles in the ground. Too many pollution problems can result because that is not their intended purpose. Additionally, depending on the age of those shingles, there's a possibility that they also have some asbestos in them. Since you're here in California, it is best to simply dispose of them in accordance with California law.
Hope that helps.
