QuestionI live in Mississippi and would like to know how to plant and care for monkey grass.
AnswerHey, Andrew.
Monkey grass in your area should be very easy to grow. Over in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida, I used to just plant it in the ground, water it, and watch it grow. I always had fairly good soils, and I always surrounded it with some fine mulch, so I never had to fertilize it, but each spring I did sometimes have to thin it out and give some to friends.
If your soil has a lot of clay content, like some of the red and black clays in East Texas and Houston, add some organic material to the soil before you plant the monkey grass.
Hope that helps.
