QuestionWhat will eat sago palms? Cows, deer...
AnswerSusan,
Please forgive me for taking so long to get back with you on your question concerning natural predators of sago palms.
Concerning your sago, as young plants they are susceptible to any foraging animal, such as deer, cow, etc. If you are considering growing these in a rural area where there are animals who look for tender greens to eat, I strongly suggest that you place a chicken wire barrel around the plants or a repellant.
I am unaware of a commercial fix to this other than home remedies, such as habernaro juice sprayed on the foliage (Taste buds will be completely uninterested in the harsh nature of the pepper juice).
I am sorry that I cannot be of any more assistance.
If I can be of any further help or encouragement, please do not hesitate to contact me.
