summer fun

Question
I have an above ground pool, but my yard is uneven/slopes just enough that my pool pores out. My ? is this can i just get a couple of big pieces of plywood and a couple of 2 by 4s to put under my pool? I don't mind so much if it droops in the middle, but would just like to go swimming. LOL this is one of the funniest things i have ever written.

Answer
First you need to scribe (mark by scratching the surface) or paint out the area of your pool on the ground. Then you need to get some cold drinks and a shovel. Now, start digging. Dig out the soil on the high side and pitch it over to the low side. When it all looks pretty even get a 2x4 (a very straight one) and lay a 48" long level across it. Check the ground for level. It should be plus or minus no more than one inch in any direction across the entire width of the pool location. When its about as level as you can get it you then need to rent a small vibratory compactor and compact the side you through the dirt on. Now check for level again and repeat the first steps as needed till it is all nice and even. When you are done leveling the dirt (or sub-base), drive to your local home store and buy about 25 bags of play sand, or have a couple yards delivered. Apply about 1" of sand to the area and use the 2x4 to "Screed" the sand out at a 1" thick level setting bed. Now you can set up your pool.
This is the best way to do it. Plywood and 2x4's will not typically support the weight of thousands of pounds of water without involving an engineer...so unless this is one of those ten dollar kiddie pools you probably have your work cut out. If it makes you feel any better, this is not the first time I have received this question. Those pool kits should come with some kind of warning!

Good Luck
