QuestionI would like to build a stone flower bed against a stockade fence. It will be about 2-3 ft high x 3-4 ft wide. What can I do to keep new soil from flower bed from rotting out stockade fence?
AnswerYou can not put dirt against the fence without increasing the chances of rotting it. Either, use the same stone in front along the back or build a barrier using pressure treated wood. You may also apply some 6 mil. or heavier black plastic along the fence. Staple it at the top (dirt line) and then lay/apply some 1/2 to 1" thick rigid insulation foam against the plastic and pile your dirt against this.
