QuestionWe previously had an above ground pool 18' that had a dark linear underneath it. We have gotten rid of the pool and would like the grass to grow back in the dead spot. How do we do it?
AnswerHello Hattie, if the dead spot is small enough just flick (dig) over the soil to a depth of around 2 to 3" Apply more soil if necessary and use a tiller if it is a large space.
Then rake it level and achieve what is called in the trade 'A fine tilth' which is simply a crumbly surface texture. Apply the grass seed at about a handful per square yard appx.
Then use the rake again to cover the seed and finally cover the whole area with a layer of standard peat to assist with water retention. Apply a handful of NPK fertiliser per square yard to help growth.
Water straight afterwards and then at least every two or three days if it doesn't rain and you will have a lawn in just two weeks. But no walking on it for a month at least!
Do all this work on a waning moon and your results will be evidently better!
Best of luck,
