Hi Kathy,
I figured you could probably help with my question. I just painted the shutters on my house black. I have a front door that has the little windows on each side, and I was thinking about painting the door to match my shutters, but alittle skeptical. I have seen doors painted to match the shutters, but I have never seen a black door before. What do you think?

Hello Teresa,

I think your instinct was correct. Oftentimes, the door is painted to stand out and a contrasting color is used. If your shutters are black I would suggest dark red or dark grey.

Another factor is the color of your roof. Is there blue in it? If so, you may want to go with a dark, slate blue color. If there is black or gray in it go with the red or grey.

This wasn't a landscaping question, but, hey, I love all things design :-D
