meyer lemon tree

Question
Hi, I have a meyer lemon tree that is about 3 feet tall and 3 years old now.  It's in a large pot, and had 7 lemons on it (picked on Thanksgiving Day) for the first time.  It's inside now for the winter.  Some of the leaves have dropped off, but the stems are still green.  Other branches still have leaves and a blossom or two.  Should I trim the branches off that don't have leaves on them, or wait and see if new leaves come on these. thanks!

Answer
Hi Lisa,

Sorry this took so long to get back to you. I have been very busy and was at one point contemplating not being able to do this anymore. But, I really love it too much.

I am not a horticulturalist (you may want to look on the list of experts for one), however, I will do some research for you and get back to you early this eveing - promise!!

In the meantime, a quick suggestion would be to not trim it at all. If this tree is like any other tree it only needs to be pruned when needed. Is it growing too large for the pot? If not, then let her grow :-D The least pruning is almost a guarantee to create the least stress in any plant (which is why there is almost always a "best" time to prune).

I will have more for you later, though.

Namaste,
Kathy
