Question
Our small Cape sits back from the road and our bedroom community has grown in the last few years - now there is an incredible amount of road noise at certain times. I thought planting a hedge row to help block the noise would at least help somewhat. Is this an "easy" solution that is acceptable in landscape circles? Or is someone going to see it and think "Look at what the amateurs did!" We rehabed the inside of the house last summer and this summer will be dedicated to lanscaping around the house and the yard.

I think you will be fine as long as you plan the appropriate type of hedge for your area. However, I have no experience with your community so I can not speak to how your neighbors will react. If its something no one else has done it may very well be perceived negatively by some, but it is YOUR house so I would do what is best for you not your neighbors.
