QuestionHello Charles,
Firstly I wouldl ike to thankyou for taking the time from your bust schedule to help we plantingly challanged Thanks.
I planted a row of 10 Emeralds in the spring of 2006 Plants did well all summer and looked good in the winter of 2007. In the spring of 2007 we had some severe ice storms which I made sure Ice was knocked off plants. They looked a little worn after those storms. My plants now are exhibiting bare spots. Some of the plant id very greem and healthy and some not. They get brown leaves and turn bare. I have sprayed for mites and will spray again after 10 days. My garden center first told me to feed with HollyTone someone else says that they don't like Hollytone but prefer PlantTone. Thge former being for acid loving plants.
I am fearful that I am loosing my trees can you help. I can email photos if that will help
Best Regards
John
AnswerDo not fertilize them to much!! Arborvitaes are nortorious for not handling winters very well, and will suffer some winter damage. They might not like the spot they are planted, the soil condition might not be right? Send me pictures if you don't mind
