Laterals of septic system under garden

Question
I just discovered that my laterals for my septic system run underneath the garden area (about 40' by 150').  Just wondering if you think that will aid in the mositure of the garden substantially or not.
Thanks for your time.
Clyde

Answer
Hey, Clyde.

It will, indeed, affect the garden moisture. You will also find that the plants directly above will grow better. What the septic system is doing, of course, is simply providing natural fertilizer to the area. Just make sure you don't plant anything that can destroy the laterals. In other words, no trees or other plants with deep, destructive, invasive root systems.
