QuestionI have a Bradford pear tree that is 12 years old. Up to last year it was beautiful until last summer. Then the leaves were a bronze color all through the summer months. This year the leaves are green but are real thin and small. What could be wrong? Thanks Tom; P.S. I live in central Virginia.
AnswerI don't recall the pears doing too well, when I lived in Charlottesville...maye a powdery mildew? I don't know. They are sensitive to Boron in the soil or water, and generally a short-lived tree, as it is (no more than about 35 years, tops).
Sorry I cannot be more specific - you might call an arborist and get his local opinion, as he can "put some eyeballs" on your problem better than I can, from across the country.
All the best! ~Marc
