Question
My house sits in an island that backs up to another house so we have a half circle with a narrow back yard with two large side yards.  I want to plan out my yard so that I have a patio and a fence so my dog can run around in the yard.  I'm not sure where to put the patio or fence so it looks nice.  The lot is a total of 14,300 square feet.  The right side yard is a little larger than the left side.  The back yard has approximately 17 feet before it hits the boundary of the other house. A crabapple tree sits in the middle of the right side yard.  The house is in Upstate NY.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

I would recommend putting the patio on the left side yard.  It doesn't sound like there is much room in the back and the right side has the large crabapple tree.  I would install the patio and landscape around it for privacy and to soften the hardscape.  If you need suggestions on plants or what type of hardscape material to use for the patio, please do not hesitate.  Hope this helped.
