QuestionI have a large blacktop driveway that abutts the neighbors driveway. I would like to cut a planting area about 4 ft by 20ft to plant shrubs or trees. What do I use to get a smooth cut and do I edge the finished cut with something to give it a professional look. Thanks
AnswerThe rental yard should have a concrete saw you can rent. It hooks up to a water source (usually by garden hose) and keeps the blade from overheating. There are smaller handheld saws (like a bigger version of a skillsaw) with a special blade...all depends on what is available from the rental yard.
We use the smaller one for getting the "curvy" concrete patio shapes from the square, concrete pavers.
Either will give you a nice, crisp edge. You'll still have to bust out the old asphalt with a jackhammer or prybar, depending on how you've chopped it up.
