QuestionWhat is the best time to move azaleas? I have an azalea which clashes in color with the rest of them and would like to move it to another part of the garden.
If your answer is wait until the autumn, could I buy the variety I would like to replace it with, (which is on sale now) and keep it in its pot until the autumn without any detriment to the plant?
AnswerTypically, the best time to transplant an existing azalea is Fall or early winter as you expected.
And Yes you could buy the replacement now, but keeping it alive is the big challenge. Nursery people water every day or close to it. Will you do the same? Place it in a part shade area where it gets a little morning sun and where you will remember to water it.
Good Luck
