Hi William,

My backyard is down to dirt....and the rainy season is right around the corner (California).  I need to find a way to prevent weeds from growing over the winter.  I found this weed retardant material at Home Depot, but it cost over $40 bucks a roll, and i figure i would need four rolls to cover the whole yard.  The rolls of plain plastic aren't much less.

Aside from cost, would this be the best way to prevent weeds from growing over the winter?  Just wrap the whole yard?

Thanks for your e-mail. For the money you would spend per roll of weed retardant, you can buy a good size bottle of round up and some rolls of plastic from home depots paint dept. It would give a better defense against the up and coming weeds. That's what I would do if it were mine. Good luck. Bill
