QuestionHi. My wife and I need to replace a dwarf tree in front of our house. The tree will be very close to the foundation. A weeping type tree would be our preference. We live in zone 6. Any suggestions?
AnswerHere is a list of weeping forms for the Minneapolis (zone3!)area...

Some of the "shrubs" listed for this colder climate will actually get quite large in a Zone 6, so you may consider the Weeping Spruces, Hemlock, & Juipers as small trees, instead.
To this list, I'd add a few of the Japanese Maples (Acer species), and weeping cherries (Prunus spp.), depending on availability and location of planting...avoid a 'hot' exposure for the maples, as their leaves are sensitive to excessive heat.
And, as always, check with your local nursery...lots of stuff is going on fall clearance, and there are deals to be had. Plus, they usually give a plant guarantee.
Happy tree-shopping
