QuestionMy house was built on a river. There is one side of the house that is close to a hill that is beginning to erode pretty badly.
What vegetation would best prevent further erosion? Or should I use something else?
Thanks, Lois Barish
AnswerLois,
It depends on how rapid the erosion is and how steep the hill is. You might want to build a retaining wall if it is too steep to plant anything on. If it is eroding rapidly that is what I would suggest. You could try planting some groundcover plants like Blue Rug juniper shrubs or any small evergreen shrubs that sit low on the ground.Creeping Phlox is also great for slopes. It is evergreen and blooms in spring in really bright colors. You could also put some large stones on it if it is not too steep.
Hope this helps.
